On the Horizon

I will be talking about who the older adult population is and ways to interact with them during library programming. I will also share programs that have been done at libraries around the country and how some libraries are getting programs to senior facilities during the pandemic.

Snow Days

Over the past week southwest Ohio has been hit with snow. We received about an inch of rain/ice and then four inches of snow. A day or two later we received three more inches along with temperatures in the teens. Don’t get me wrong Ohio does get snow in the winter and we have cold days. It’s just that we haven’t seen it for the past two or three years. People I talked to were excited about the snow and cold. Cold temps mean we have sunshine too. It’s just after a year of covid, covid, covid it is nice and almost normal to hear about freezing temperatures and snow.

What I Actually Read in February

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is definitely one of my favorite reads so far this year. Imagine if there is a place you visit between living and death. In this case it is a library and the main character has a chance to replay regrets and decide where she wants to stay. Fantasy at it’s best.
The Last Flight is a psychological thriller. Two women, both abused by men, decide to leave their lives behind. The author tells their story jumping back and forth between the two characters. A bittersweet and unexpected ending.
